NATIONAL ACADEMY OF ENGINEERING
Election to the National Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Engineering, or National Academy of Medicine is considered one of the highest professional honors among scientists, engineers, and health professionals. NATIONAL ACADEMY OF INVENTORS
Election to the National Academy of Inventors (NAI) Fellow status is the highest professional distinction accorded solely to academic inventors. NAI Fellows are academic inventors who have demonstrated “a prolific spirit of innovation in creating or facilitating outstanding inventions that have made a tangible impact on quality of life, economic development and the welfare of society.”

Penn State Awards
Penn State awards various awards and honors to faculty based on achievement that focuses on evidence of the superior scholarly or creative accomplishments.
The title of Distinguished Professor is bestowed on full-time faculty members who hold the rank of professor and are acknowledged leaders in their fields of research or creative activity; demonstrate significant leadership in raising the University's standards in teaching, research, or creative activity and service; and exhibit excellent teaching skills.
Faculty Scholar Medals are given in recognition of scholarly excellence demonstrated by a single contribution or series of contributions focusing on a coherent theme.
